Access
MIC facilities are available for use by:
- UCLA students, staff, faculty
- Students, staff, and faculty from other universities and colleges
- External non-profit companies
- External for-profit companies
First Time UCLA Users
First time users from UCLA can follow the instructions below for access to MIC facilites.
- Please satisfy all safety training requirement through Worksafe, specifically the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Laboratory Safety Fundamentals, which should already be complete and up to date with research laboratory membership.
- Complete the MIC User Agreement through Docusign. Please notify your PI after doing so as they will recieve it after you sign.
- Create an account on FOM (Facilities Online Management) using a valid FAU.
- Complete any division-specific forms and/or training as necessary. (NMR) (PXRD)
- In FOM, use the Request Access to New Resource button and select the resource you would like access to.
First Time Non-UCLA Users
First time users from outside of UCLA can follow the instructions below for access to MIC facilites.
- Obtain a UCLA Logon ID.
- Complete required online EH&S safety training in Worksafe.
- Navigate to above link.
- Log in using your credentials
- Click “Go To Course Search”
- Search for “LAB-LSFC-OL”
- Complete “Laboratory Safety Fundamentals.”
- Download certificate of completion.
- Complete the MIC User Agreement through Docusign. The PI may be yourself or your manager. The document will be automatically routed to the email address provided after you sign.
- Sign up for instrumentation training with the relevant MIC facility by contacting the instrument manager directly.
- FOM is only available through the on campus network, so your account can be created with the help of the instrument manager on the day of training. The process takes 5 minutes.
- VPN access may be given to outside users to reserve their own instrument time on a case by case basis. Otherwise, time can be reserved by contacting the instrument manager.
Facility Door Access
Door access to each facility is granted by the appropriate facility manager upon successful completion of instrument training.
Exterior Door Access
Young Hall and MSB summer hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
After-hours exterior door access to MSB is granted by the appropriate facility manger upon successful completion of instrument training.
After-hours exterior door access to Young Hall may be granted by emailing Nati Alcaraz (cc: Ignacio Martini) with your Bruincard information after successful completion of training.
